***NEW***
The Ministry of the Attorney General, through Court Reporting Services, requests that ACTs complete the "Court Audio Recording Feedback" survey found here:
***NOTE***
The Association has requested that MAG provide a confirmation email and/or confirmation number to ACTs once they have completed the Audio Recording Feedback survey, as well we requested that a copy of the survey the ACT completed be sent to the ACT.
ACTAO highly recommends all ACTs complete this survey, when there is missing information in the annotations, for example; correct spellings of names, case law, medical terminology, speakers are not properly identified when speaking, any issues of that nature with the annotations AND report any issues with recording sound, not loud enough, interference, excessive use of [indiscernible] required by the ACT due to poor quality court recordings.
ACTs are NOT required to gather or obtain, from any other party, any information that ought to have been captured and included with the annotations and the recording - that is the responsibility of the court reporters, supervisors, RMC; The Ministry of the Attorney General is responsible for maintaining and creating the court record, which is the court recording and the annotations, both of which form the court record.
ACTs have Mandatory Easy Access to ALL Supporting Documents -
AT no charge to the ACT - MAG, through the RMC or Supervisor, must provide any missing information, which should be captured in the annotations to the ACT directly without delay.
Please also note Justice Templeton's addendum on the last page of R. v. Vandergust, which may also be brought to the attention of RMC and Supervisors when the required information has not been made available to ACTs which is required for the expeditious, accurate production of transcripts.
